Create an online experience for a new game where the focus was around creating a social network around band in-game stats, rocker profiles and the ability to customize band for in-game play.
The Project
To go along with the much anticipated release of the game Rockband, I was brought in to work together with the agencies Tree-Axis and Mekanism to design the user experience for a game driven community based Rockband.com. We started with a pre-launch marketing site to generate buzz around the game and the community features and followed up with a full site design which included tight integration with in-game play through the creation of a Rockband social network. It became an incredibly popular site and was a new style web experience. The site allowed for users to create and skin profiles, make friends, set up their band, send messages, leave testimonias, blog, upload images connect user profiles to game avatars and bands and view game rankings in real-time via a variety of leaderboards.
My Contribution
- Site map and wireframes for full marketing version of the pre-game launch version of the site used to generate buzz.
- Created workflows for how users would register and migrate in-game data into the online community
- Wireframes for the full RockBand.com web experience, including detailed specs around key community features such as band profiles, rocker profiles, user profiles and leaderboards
- Defined online interactive tools for creating band and individual rocker avatars.
